Another message for newbies: the first couple of years we did the Sunday evening cookout we had a great deal of leftover food. I strongly encourage TJ last year to cut back on the meat that we barbecued and he did. But of course we ran out! So I made a quick run to a convenience store for hotdogs, but we ran out again. Lol. So don’t assume if you show up at 8:30 at the cookout, you will find food waiting for you. Earlier is better than later. That’s just my two cents.
For any newbies who are thinking they will just sleep in and miss the morning welcome gatherings, I recommend that you not do that. I think I did that the first year because my sleep is priceless. But I quickly learned that this event has daily updates to the schedule. And those updates are announced at the morning welcome meetings. Also various speakers and presenters are highlighted at the morning welcome sessions and you will get a lot out of that. Finally attendees are encouraged to participate and speak up and share brief stories of their experiences of this gathering in the morning. You can gain a great deal of insight about other people and their experiences at the sessions by listening to their input. GREAT JOB, Julie.
There will be. ON the one hand, I could not have organized this without the aid of ChatGPT. On the other hand, the little bots have a mind of their own, and if I’m not careful, change a workshop title or drop a speaker altogether!
Let me know if you see any thing else that might need attention.
It's where you bring something youve written and put it in a pile. Someone from the panel reads out loud and the rest of the panel raises their hand at whatever point they would stop reading - say if they were an agent. Then they explain why. It's terrifying but very helpful.

The morning welcome sessions with Julie at the mic are fun and uplifting.
I volunteered for several things, do I need to be early to learn what I need to do? I would expect to have to be early to help set up chairs?
Hey Julie this looks great. Question, no slush piles??
Good catch! Yes!
Yes, there will be or yes, no slush piles?

And THANK YOU for all you do!!!!!
Thank you for clarifying. I have had something ready for the slush pile for a while, so am really glad they will be happening!
I am attending for the first time this year, could you tell me, please, what is a slush pile?
